Gotta admit, that looks like a significant improvement over the Clash remake...

This March...TITANS WILL WRATH! I didn't see the remake, and this sequel's understanding of who the Titans were seems to be taken directly from Disney's Hercules (Lava guy? Check. Ice guy? Check. Cyclops? We got it!), but yeah, I'll probably end up seeing this one, if only to see a chimaera outside of the SyFy Channel.

I'm just happy that the DKR trailer actually seems to be referencing Batman Returns with that Catwoman/masquerade ball scene.

Several questionable things in this trailer...
  • Catwoman going "we are the 99 percent". Who are we rooting for again?
  • "The Legend Ends"... what, you're promising to never make another Batman film?
  • Football player with superhuman powers of obliviousness.
  • Ominous chants are usually scarier if you can make out specific words in them.
  • Bats comes off as a small passive nothing.

The actual film might be awesome, of course.

"Who are we rooting for again?" has frequently been a complicated question where Catwoman is concerned, though. I think setting her and Bane up as alternate faces of a vast, angry, and potentially destructive protest movement with obviously legitimate grievances is an interesting way to approach that ambiguity. Assuming, of course, that that's actually what they're trying to do here.

Or look like they're trying to. If it's trendy...

Well, we have Bat Tank, Bat Hunter/Killer equivelant, escaped thugs, bad guy with weird voice and design asthetic...yeah, it's a Batman flick.

Well, considering the first film had Hades as its villain, trying to overthrow Zeus, I'd say the filmmakers learned everything they know about Greek myth from Disney's Hercules, yes. Also, it didn't even hit me that that was a Chimera. I thought it was a half-assed Cerberus.

As for The Dark Knight Rises, well, I'm not sure how I feel about it yet. It didn't really wow me and, I hate to say it, but Tom Hardy's Bane just sounds like Shinzon with his voice muffled. Not the most assuring first impression of a villain.

Yeah, Peter Jackson's still got it.

I'm definitely more excited for that than for The Dark Knight Rises, but I am a little annoyed with the "hey, it's stuff you remember from The Lord of the Rings" moments. And I'm still not a fan of it being two movies.

I do like that even in this short trailer there's extensive scenes of singing and just sitting around smoking doing nothing, hopefully indicating that the film itself will be made up of that and eating for roughly 80% of its runtime.

Yeah, it looks just like LOTR. I'm not going to complain about THAT! I've got chills as I think about going back to Middle Earth and knowing it's just as I left her.

The voices seem spot on.

Aaaaaand we've got a trailer for Ridley Scott's Prometheus.

...Yep. That's pretty awesome looking. Love the Alien callback with the title.
