The Japanese have a project under way to clone a mammoth in an elephant's uterus.

"Preparations to realise this goal have been made."

If those aren't the words of a supervillain, I don't know what is! I am highly skeptical of this coming to pass any time soon, especially within five years, but of course I hope against hope that it does. I do think that one of the historically extinct species will be cloned within my lifetime, but DNA degrades so fast, and accurately reconstructing a genome is currently so difficult, it is very difficult.

Well, we could ride the Peace Mammoths into town to pick up the monthly supplies, as well, but that is significantly less metal.

It's Japan, so hopefully the cloned giant mammoth will be ridden by a robot and shoot lasers.

Hopefully by the time I'm retirement age I'll be able to ride an Allosaurus to work, making my commute COMPLETELY AWESOME.

All this time, technology and expense just to make the world more like The Flintstones.

Then we'll see bumper stickers proclaiming 'My T-Rex ate your Allosaurus. AND your honor student!'

Tell the truth, you wrote the English dub to Infra-Man.

Hm, maybe they should start with something easier, something that became extinct more recently, even within living memory. I'd suggest the Tasmanian Wolf,

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tasmanian_wolf

or the giant Moa bird,

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moa

or that big-@$$ lizard that used to live in Australia.

If that made a come back, it would not need embiggening, just numbers to make a Sy-Fy original.
