Post RIP Charles B. Pierce
Charles B. Pierce, Director of ‘Boggy Creek,’ Dies at 71

I saw The Legend of Boggy Creek in a theater as a kid and it scared the poop out of me. I didn't know he had as extensive a resume.

With the MST3K version of Boggy Creek II being my only exposure to Pierce's work, my tribute to him may be woefully insufficient. But it is one of my favorite lines of all-time from that show:

Doc - "Tim and I began searching behind the camp, hoping we might find hair, or even a small blood sample from where the creature had torn off through the woods."

Servo - "We only assumed he had 'torn off', though; it's possible he 'beat cheeks' or 'busted a hump'."

Legend of Boggy Creek was my first big screen horror movie what I ever went to a theater to see. I was five or six when my sister took me to see it. She was ten and delighted in seeing me frightened.

Thank you, Mr. Pierce.

This one bums me out a good deal more than the day's other celebrity death, and will sadly be overshadowed by it as well. Farewell, Mr. Pierce.

I believe my first exposure was The Town that Dreaded Sundown, and jus the TV spots for his stuff used to give me the drizzles.

Sad news, indeed.

Wasn't he the one who came up with the line "Go ahead, make my day"?

That was John Milius.

I tried desperately to post this on Saturday given that Pierce has an award named after him at the local film festival. Damn, Boggy Creek could make a badass redo btw. Anyone who's been in a small town like that area knows a great horror movie cries out for a great horror film.
