Yep you read that right. In the wake of the "Mega Shark vs. Giant Octopus" release, news of another giant monster rumble surfaces. "DINOCROC vs. SUPERGATOR" is currently being directed by legendary b-movie master Jim Wynorski and starring David Carradine. More details here and forthcoming.:

I'm thinking you'd do well to abandon that hope. Has Wynorski had his name on a single remotely worthwhile movie since Chopping Mall?

So, the Supergator is just a tweeked copy of Dinocrock...it could still work. Maybe. Its still looks like its related to Deanzilla...

 Re: Re:
Those do look good, but if this is anything like Mega Shark vs. Giant Octopus, the creatures will only look that good for the scenes that those shots are taken from. But still, I'm intrigued. I never saw Dinocroc or Supergator, but I do love me some giant crocodilian action--and giant crocodilians fighting to the death sounds even better. Though I'm sure it will suck hard.

 Re:
Giant crocodile/alligator flicks are a weakness of mine, but I just can't stand the CGI in these flicks. For my money, nothing looks better than a big ole rubber croc gobbling people up.

 Re: Re:
Agreed. It's weird. I can watch a rubbery looking stop motion monster battling Sinbad and buy into it almost completely. But drop a cheap-assed CGI critter on the screen and despite somewhat more "lifelike" movement, it irritates me to look at it.

 Re:
Oh man. What a damn bummer. I mean, I'm usually pretty excited when I first hear about these things before common sense takes over and I realize that these movies usually suck even for people like us who watch suck movies on purpose. But this is really unfair to poor David Carradine, that the final chapter in his legacy could have been the deliriously awesome Crank 2 and now it's going to be this instead. Unless he pulls a Tupac, and we find that he completed some forty movies in his final years and we keep getting new ones for a good decade after he's in the ground.

 Re:
Actually, this isn't really his "last" film as he was working on several. IMDB has him listed as having something like 16 films from 2009 alone, with 7 of them in 'post production' so there's no telling how much of his parts were completed. His parts in this film [a.k.a. "Volcanic"] were completed just days before he went off to Thailand to shoot another film. It looks like "Stretch" may be his last one though...who knows? : http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001016/

 Re: Re:
You are so right, my friend. The trailer I saw for this movie actually does not look half bad, and it looks VERY good for a cheap-ass CGI feature, but I hesitate...

 Re:
Dinocroc was actually a pretty good creature feature, with a couple of shocks and some good mayhem. The monster effects were decent. The first plan to destroy the monster is actually a pretty good one, if lacking in cinematic excitement. The second plan makes up for said lack of excitement.
Supergator was cheesy and stupid, and the CG were terrible. Still, a lot of mayhem going on. It was entertaining in a dumb way; nothing to write home about, but fun in the right frame of mind. The monster is destroyed in a way that's so stupid, and presented so ridiculously, you can't help but laugh with delight. Or at least, I couldn't.
Dinocroc vs. Supergator was stupid, with horrible CG monsters that did not spend nearly enough time onscreen. It made the cardinal mistake of being boring. The monsters are quickly destroyed at the end in a terrible long shot, so we don't even get an interesting climax. It was like Megashark vs. Giant Octopus without the couple of bits of inspired insanity that briefly brought that movie to life.
The long and short of it: Watch Dinocroc. Watch Supergator only if you are in the mood for stupid, Siffy-type cheese and have a couple of friends to watch with. Do not watch Dinocroc vs. Supergator. That goes double if you've seen the movies it's a supposed sequel to. I was not happy at all, particularly on behalf of Dinocroc.

 Re: Re:
Have any of the other Critter vs. Critter movies reached the standard set by Boa vs. Python? That was ludicrous fun, all these others just sound like a drag.

I'm just waiting for Crocopus vs. Sharkagator...or is that Octodile vs. Dinopus?

 Re: Re:
I haven't seen that, so I can't compare, but I thought Megashark vs. Crocosaurus was a marked improvement over Megashark vs. Giant Octopus. The effects were still pretty bad, but the plot was rather more interesting, a couple of people in the movie could actually act, and most importantly there was a LOT more monster stuff happening. There are a couple of hilarious scenes of people not at all reacting to or even noticing the 500-foot Crocosaurus practically on top of them (the scene at Sea World had me howling). I did not find myself bored during the running time; they threw in monster stuff often enough to break up any monotony that could've taken hold, unlike the first movie; and said monster stuff tended towards the over-the-top ridiculousness we thought we'd be getting from MSvGO (the Sea World scene is possibly more retarded than the original's "big-ass shark eats a goddamn jet" moment, and we know how great that was.) ----------------------- I would definitely consider it "ludicrous fun."

 Re: Re:
Boa vs. Python even got a relatively positive review here. I've seen scenes from the one about the giant snake fighting the komodo dragon, although it was so underwhelming that I can't be bothered to remember the title of the film.
