Post Zone Fighter - The Godzilla Episodes
So Godzilla guest starred on four episodes of this Ultraman rip-off show, which turn out to besome loopy, LOOPY sh*t.

In one episode, Godzilla and Zone Fighter team up against a monster that looks like a dinosaur, but with an insectoid head. It also has a flamethrower AND a double-barrel shotgun for a mouth. The episode also features an army of killer robot toys, model tanks, and model airplanes. Whenever the model jets attack the heroine (who spends the episode wearing a short, tight, black leather skirt--hubba hubba), we switch to stock footage from Godzilla vs. Gigan. There's also a scene where Zone Fighter flies into his television and shows up in his giant form at the scene of the rampage.

Another episode has Godzilla and Zone Fighter team up against Gigan. If you've ever wanted to see Gigan foam at the beak before exploding, this is your chance. I like how Zone Fighter's alter ego can get trapped in a car that is impervious to his ray gun, but is perfectly capable of being crushed in a trash compactor. Godzilla's special technique here is to stick his tail in Gigan's maw, and then, while standing perfectly still, lift Gigan into the air and slam him on the ground repeatedly.

The third Godzilla episode has the two squaring off against a pseudopod-covered slime monster that can form other monsters from its severed tentacles. The human plot involves the kid brother of Zone Fighter's alter ego getting shot in the head and then kidnapped. The aliens responsible then raid a construction site and mow down all of the people there with machine guns. Notable for establishing that Godzilla lives in a cave complete with a mechanical door and for Godzilla's atomic breath being purple.

The fourth and final appearance by Godzilla features no less than four evil monsters, although Godzilla only tangos with two of them: a giant bumblebee monster and one that looks like a giant brain in an astronaut outfit. There's also a monster that I could only describe as an anthropomorphic dog with futuristic sunglasses and swords for hands. The fourth monster looks something like a mechanical bull with a hunchback. The plot is some nonsense about an earthquake, but there's arguably more monster action here than in the previous episodes. That said, I prefer the first two episodes the most.

Are they officially Godzilla and Gigan in these episodes, or is it just that old Toho monster suits have been pressed into service to represent kaiju original to the show?

They are officially Godzilla and Gigan. You can hear the names "Gojira" and "Gigan" being spoken by the actors.

King Ghidorah showed up in one of them as well. I recall that they actually treated him with respect, with Zone Fighter having to power up to finally beat him, and then only sending him into wounded retreat rather than destroying him.

I need to find out if that series is on easily-acquirable DVD...
