[Found!] Looking for a movie about an evil, corruping well
A few years ago (2004-2008), I read several previews of a low budget horror movie that is proving impossible to track down.
It was about an evil water well (like the kind Samara crawled out of) that has a corrupting influence on a gang or club of twentysomething men. The well looked strangley mechanical, covered in gears and gizmos.
I think the gang of men was called something like, "The Young Philosophers Club," but keep in mind these guys looked more like British soccer hooligans than Harry Potter kids. Also, I think one preview revealed that in the third act, the movie takes a turn for the weird(er) and a big blue post-apocalyptic looking bad guy shows up to fight the club members.
In other words, somewhere out there is an indie horror movie about (possibly European) guys who must battle the corrupting influence of an evil, mechanical water well, that summons a big blue warrior to fight them.
Anyone heard of this movie, or am I just slowly going insane?

I think you're talking about The Land of College Prophets. I haven't seen it, but check out Nathan's review at Cold Fusion; it sounds like what you're looking for. (The thing about summoning a big blue guy struck a chord in my head.)

Thank you! I've been wondering about this for years. Man, I tried IMDB's movie find it page and every horror forum I could think of and no one had heard of it. Great job, Rev.
