Post Strange Movies
Hey guys,

New member here and lover of bad movies...I have a pretty large collection (probably around 200 or so if you count box sets) but I'm always looking to uncover a new gem. What I'm hoping for is to get some suggestions for some of the stranger bad movies you guys have seen...so far my holy grail of strangeness is a movie called "Psyched by the 4d witch" which is an obscure acid trip of a movie that was made in the early 70's and eventually uncovered by something weird video. I'm not sure what could possibly top it, but if such a movie exists...I MUST SEE IT!!!

Anyways...any suggestions you guys can make would be great!

Psyched sets a pretty high bar for strangeness. Keeping with Something Weird releases, you could try Fredric Hobbs' two movies, Godmonster of Indian Flats and Roseland, if you can find it.

I assume you've already considered classics like El Topo and Even Dwarfs Started Small.

And then there's Japan. Oh Japan, what would we do without you? Goke, Body Snatcher from Hell must be seen rather than explained, and almost anything by Shinya Tsukamoto like Tetsuo: The Iron Man and Tokyo Fist is worth seeing.

(I've moved this topic to the Coffee House, where it fits in better.)

Greaser's Palace is a hyper-pretentious art film about the life of Christ, set in the old west, and stars the actor who played Sidney Freedman the psychiatrist on M*A*S*H.

The American Astronaut is a black and white rockabilly sci-fi musical road movie about gender roles. It's amazing, and brilliant on a tiny budget.

That's awesome...thanks for the suggestions guys...I will definately look into all of them.
I actually find something weird to be really hit and miss...Psyched, the Bushwhacker and Deadly Weapons are all classics in my books...but Blood Feast, Snake People and few others were kind of disappointing. But I will still definately look into the SW titles the third poster suggested.

Seventh Curse is a great Hong Kong horror/kung fu flick with plenty of absurdity.

There's a Filipino fantasy flick called Magic of the Universe that's so hyperactively strange it's physically tiring to watch.

RoboVampire is one of my personal favorites, but its sequel, Counter Destroyer, is disappointing.

Hey man, thanks for the suggestions...I haven't tapped into nearly enough foreign films!
And I couldn't agree more about Robo Vampire...truly one of the biggest gems of my collection! I haven't seen Counter Destroyer, but I have seen a couple of other Godfrey Ho movies and they don't really come close to Robo Vampire.

I'd recommend any of the four Yuen Clan sorcery films, which are filled to the brim with strangeness:

Miracle Fighters

Shaolin Drunkard

Taoism Drunkard

Young Taoism Fighter

Seventh Curse reminds of its semi-sequel The 1000 Year Cat, which gets my vote for being weirder just because of the minute long cat-dog-junkyard battle.

Speaking of cats, Criterion released the bizarre Japanese movie House on disc, because they'd already released every other movie ever. I kid, I actually liked House, but it's not the product of a normal mind. And Criterion did Jigoku, the infamous movie about Buddhist Hell.

And speaking of movies that Criterion should release, Lady Terminator is just awesome.

I was just about to order Lady Terminator on amazon one time but I don't remember what stopped me...I think it was the price.

If you go in at all for sexed-up European horror movies, try The Reincarnation of Isabel and Nude for Satan. They both left me wondering what in the hell I just watched.

HAHAHA Nude for Satan WAS truly a journey...particularly the scene with the spider web

I will also look into The Reincarnation of Isabel...thank you for your suggestion.

I have not seen Psyched by the 4d Witch, but have heard many a legend about it. Have it on my must see list.

But if you liked that, I have it on reliable information that your head would get blown by Curse of the Queerwolf.
