Though it isn't a direct to DVD movie, I recently caught up with "The Spectacular Spider-Man" via YouTube and enjoyed the hell out of it. And from the animated style, to the characterizations, to the humor, to the obnoxious theme song, I think its my favorite adaptation of old Web-head outside the four-color medium. The first season is out on DVD, hopefully the second season will soon follow. Sadly, just when it was really starting to get the ball rolling, there probably won't be a third as the series will likely get lost in the wash of Marvel's sale to Disney, being a Sony product, which is too damn bad.

I really, really dug The Spectacular Spider-Man, too. I really hope there's a third season, but yeah, there probably won't be, which is a real shame.

I loved that we finally got to see Spider-Man fighting and quipping. I so hope we get a third.

I caught most of the first season back when it was on Kids WB--then after the whole CW merger's final fallout, it seemed to get lost in the saturday morning shuffle. So I thought it got canceled. Now out here in cable land, I see that it's pretty much a staple of the "Disney XD" channel in between their movie airings and their live-action serieses. I doubt it'll disappear from that lineup. Interestingly, the normal late night line-up for the channel is almost exclusively Marvel cartoons from the nineties through to the aughts. I forgot how godawful the Fantastic Four cartoon was.

Troma is, in this regard, like Alexandro Jodorowsky, only with even less restraint and absolutely no pretensions of artistic integrity...--Peregrin, hitting the nail on the head.

Not an accident. The Mouse noted how highly rated those are. Decided "why not" and bought Marvel based in part on that
