How can so much cool fx - and they were extremely cool fx - I give Dean and Emmerich full credit for knowing how to make great looking destruction on a mass scale - and still manage to make it all with such unbelievable suck. Remove everything featuring Cusack, et. al. and the destruction on a mass scale could have been just incred-a-cool. But the extreme litany of near misses in a speeding limo, for God's sake, just got flat hysterical.

It was completely hilarious, but I think that from the beginning of the phone call, the message was clear that this was intentional humor about action movie tropes -- kinda like the extended and over the top suffering in Darkman's origin scene.

I hope so. I really do because if it is played as a send-up of current over-the-top action movie cliches - and you could make a case for that - then it really could be quite funny.
